He could probably get hired for any studio show he wanted tomorrow, network budgets be damned. The same might apply for color analyst. But I think he’s done done, even if it is going to be too cold to enjoy the lake for a while yet.

Not knowing the man or situation at all besides what I sometimes see on TV from thousands of miles away (i.e., I don't know shit), I'd be surprised if he didn't appear on a set next season.

The assumption has to be the first calls are to Lanning and Sark

My first two guesses were Dabo and Kiffin.

I suspect Lanning is smart enough to pass on this.

Guess we'll see how much Alabama means to Sark.

I think Dabo has hurt his chances with the last couple seasons -- the lack of regard for the transfer portal being a major issue. You can't be a contender without it.

If this had been two years ago he would have been the heir apparent

Lanning's extension before the season was six years, $45 million. If Bama doubles that, he's going to say no? Especially with a move to a conference where you don't know just how good you might be in the coming years

That would have been FAR from a consensus choice and seen as a repudiation of Saban’s style.

My best friend just called. “Don’t forget, I’m a Seahawks lifer too, so I just lost him and Pete Carroll on the same day.”

Saban retires, forever 0-1 vs. UAB.

I grew up a Bear Bryant fan and a 'Bama fan, rooting for Major Ogilvie, etc., then the lean Shula years, then Saban came in and the fan base became insufferable. Saban created such a powerhouse and for that I give him huge credit. He also seems like a decent person. Glad he's leaving now so that the 'Bama fans can get a taste of mediocrity.
