You don't pay a guy $4.5 million not to pitch.

And Blackburn has been good. He's been inconsistent. Perkins to the pen probably makes the most sense, since he's played that role before.

There is talk that if Maine's rotator "strain" is more serious than believed, the Mets might be intereted in Livan.. but they don't want to give up much.

If they'll take Lamb, too, they can probably get him.

That would free up enough money for the Twins to get a Beltre or someone else to play third.

There is no such thing as a mild rotator strain (as in coming immediately of the DL).... I've never seen one end up with fewer than six weeks on the shelf.

Weird game for the Yankees so far. They have five runs on just two hits. Thank you Nick Markakis. While the offensive struggles continue, Joba is showing that he is well suited to being a starter.

FWIW, Dice-K missed a month with the same thing earlier this season. Mets won't be seeing Maine till September at the earliest.

Hernandez is the Twins' only real big-game pitcher.

You want the guy with the 5.60 ERA on the mound in a big game?

See what happens when the kids pitch in a big spot.

We already know what happens when Livan Hernandez pitches in any spot, and it ain't good.

Why the hell is Girardi even arguing the ejection?

And Buchholz, when he pitched in Pawtucket, was better than Wakefield. Doesn't mean he would have been the better pitcher had the Red Sox called him up. The Twins thought Liriano was back once already this season, it's not like they sent him to the minors during spring training.
