    It would make no sense.

Outfield would go from plodding to awful.... Blue-collar ethic would be infected by Manny-apathy.

As much as the Red Sox are dumb to let him go, the Marlins would be more stupid to trade to get him.

And Gordon's five walks produced exactly ZERO runs.
    OPB tonight = 1.000. Runs produced = 0.
    A total waste.

Gotta disagree on Manny pollluting the team. Manny-apathy would probably take a two- (or maybe a three-!) month break as he tries to prove himself worthy of a four-year deal.

The defense would be laughably bad, though. No doubt about that.

The X-factor is how much of his utter fearlessness/lack of awareness of pressure at the plate would reach to other players.

He'd be an intimidator. And the Marlins have no hitters who do that.

And, he's my daughter's favorite player, bar none..... so I would be more intrigued by such a trade than against it, though I'm sure the negatives far outweigh the positives.

Hey, I don't so much as glance at SportsJournalists.com while at work, so I'm always like eight hours behind by the time I get home. It's like I'm in the Alaska/Hawaii time zone.

Ouch. That's one on me. Good thing I didn't put it in print.

Earlier this year, Augie Ojeda had a game with six RBI and zero runs scored.

The Jeter line is commonplace compared with that.

If I may reiterate a point ... the Marlins are an offensive machine. They do a lot of things poorly, and their pitching is so-so, but taking into consideration the shortcomings of the Phillies and the Mets, I can see the Marlins winning the division due to their bats. And adding Manny to that lineup can hardly hurt enough defensively to kill them.
