Depends how you skin the cat:

    Last 10 starts:
    Nolasco
    70 2/3 IP, 58 H, 25 ER, 8 BB, 74 K, 3.184 ERA, 0.934 WHIP, 5-2

    Jurrjens
    66 1/3 IP, 65 H, 24 ER, 22 BB, 47 K, 3.256 ERA, 1.312 WHIP, 5-3

It's ... somewhat close, but clearly, unquestionably in Nolasco's advantage.

Doesn't take away from the facts about the bogus system.

Loria and company would have had to dig into non-baseball generated funds to afford it.

Simply because of where the team is located.

A good start, but if he has a Jay Bruce-like start in Boston and then a Jay Bruce-like finish to the season, those same Red Sox fans saying "Manny who?" will be ruthless at every turn.

While "Red Sox Nation" may still be pondering their attitudes on the Manny/Bay trade, look at it this way, the Sox are confident and they are happy and, as a result, they are winning. Although it doesn't take much to beat up on the Athletics, the Sox don't have that club drama to deal with and that can make all the difference.

    *rubbing my forehead*

Loria and company are cheap dickheads of historic proportions. If the system is so bad, why are they on their second team? Cause they make a shitpot of money by crying poor. A. Shitpot. Of. Money.

If they tried more than once in a while, they'd make even more.

Any number of 20 teams would have to dump players off this Marlins roster next year... PURELY because the revenues don't come in at a clip where they can keep them. Only reason.

This issue is your Shakespearian flaw.

    Pathetic.

Really? Twenty teams will be dumping payroll this winter?

Complete bullshit. Start rooting for a team that tries.

I'm done arguing this, on this thread at least, b/c I have zero interest in what usually transpires when the debate opens up beyond you and I.

Ditto. Please, everyone, let's leave it here. No more. I beg you all.

Well, that was odd. Lets see...How about that AL Central, huh? Francisco Liriano is slated to start for the Twins against Kansas City after the Twins FINALLY released Livan Hernadez.

Not when the team in first place is hungrier -- and better, too.

I can't disagree. It'll be a dogfight to the finish and they Rays and Sox still need to face one another six more times, I believe.
