Last I heard, they were planning to leave Kennedy in the minors for the rest of the season.

Cubs are now trying to not have anyone blow the lead this time. 11-7 after a 5-run seventh includes a Fukudome Sac Fly, a Soriano 3-run shot and a D. Lee RBI single.

If Joba has to go on the DL and Kennedy keeps pitching lights out, they'll almost have to give him a shot. Girardi said if all goes well, Hughes might be good to go for Sept. 1. Otherwise it's Pettitte, Mussina, Rasner, Ponson and Giese for the next three weeks.

Suspensions in for the Good Guys/Bad Guys fracas in Kansas City.

Zack Greinke and Miguel Olivo each get five games. Ozzie two for bumping an umpire and Trey Hillman one.

Olivo's is deserved, although he should receive a one-game credit for punking Pierzynski. Not sure Greinke deserves his.

The hell it is. If Miguel Olivo doesn't act like a nitwit, no one is suspended to begin with.

Glavine pitched four innings for Class A Myrtle Beach yesterday ... his first minor league appearance in 21 years. (He was called up from Richmond in August 1987.) It's not a record -- I think -- but it's pretty damn impressive.

And believe it or not, his career record in the minors was/is 29-32. Makes you wonder how many pitchers slip through the cracks because they don't have the specific tools that scouts drool over.
