Manny hit .347 for the month of July (not to mention .587 slugging and 1.060 OPS), so yes, I do think he would be this "healthy."

You mean when he supposedly wasn't trying?

Again, Jason Bay is a good player...nothing more.
Manny Ramierz is one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game.

It came to a boiling point however, when he made it clear he didn't want to be there, and the other players didn't want him to. They had no choice but to deal him.

Ball One Benitez had a similar contract, but it was for a leadoff walk.

That has nothing to do with the "healthy" comment. And no, they didn't need to trade him because he didn't run out a couple grounders to first base -- which he had done for 7.5 years in Boston, BTW.

And I'm not sure his teammates wanted him to go. The circus, yes, but not Manny.

What happened to his sore knee and hamstring sice he moved to LA?

When Manny wants to play there is no comparison between him and Bay and I don't think anybody would ever make that argument.

I'm not sure about his teammates but I'm sure the Boston organization has a better feel for the locker room than anybody on here.

It's the same sore knee and hamstring he had in Boston, when he hit .347 with a 1.060 OPS in July. It's not like a night-and-day difference between Manny with the Sox and Dodgers, he's been raking no matter where he is.

If the knee happens to be something like tendinitis, it's plausible for the injury to come and go. Maybe Manny's decision to sit two games was the rest he needed to feel OK again (he hadn't missed a game in more than a month before that). If he's hurt, he's played through it for quite some time and put up good numbers. If he's not hurt, he's put up the numbers everyone would expect him to.

JC, nobody is saying Ramirez isn't capable of pulling a lot of crap. They are saying none of it is new. Hell, I think he did quit on the team in '06. The question is what was different this time.

And even with the "health" issues, Jason Bay is no Manny Ramirez.

Jason Bay doesn't need to be Ramirez.
