Bizarre stat and sure sign of the impending apocalypse:

Aaron Heilman 2 saves in 2 nights, 3 scoreless innings!

I don't know how many shutouts the Brewers needed to beat the Nats this weekend, but I know how many they're going to use. /RonWhite

Then the Mariners decide they're going to completely blow it, and now the Rays are up 7-5.

There was a play in there where Lopez, the M's second baseman looked like he had a force play at second base to end the inning, and for some reason he held onto the ball.

It loaded the bases, and the Rays then had an infield single, two doubles and a single to bring in six runs.

I can see why M's fans are disgruntled.

Brett Myers seemed pretty pissed at Manuel for pulling him.

His wife better watch the fuck out.

Delmon Young is a poo-nanny. Either do something about it, or take your base. Or do what Delmon does... wait for three guys to get between him and the pitcher, then act pissed.

I wish this team would send out a fucking e-mail for when they decided to turn from world beaters to hapless chumps. They've got more issues than Cybill (or Sybil, or whatever) at the moment.

Mariners load the bases with one out in the bottom of the 10th, Beltre hits into a double play. Rays then win in the 11th. Red Sox fans have got to wonder what it's going to take to close the gap. Seems like the Rays and Red Sox always win and lose on the same days.

As long as the Yankees keep losing on those days, both teams will be happy, and most likely make the playoffs.

Tampa's September schedule is going to be the decider.

The only team they play with a losing record is Baltimore, which hasn't been a cakewalk. Toronto may have a three-game set with the Rays in September too.

But they've got two series with the Yankees, at least one with Boston, one with Detroit, and one with the Chi Sox too I think. I'm not sold on them being a playoff team this year, but if they can survive their September schedule then they can beat anyone.

Orlando Hudson likely out for the year with a broken wrist. D'backs might have to make due w/Augie Ojeda.

Was watching that and it was an ugly play.

First, McCann singled off the glove of Mark Reynolds, who then threw wildly back to third to try and get the lead runner. McCann then took off for second and the throw from the catcher (Montero) was also wild and carried toward right field.

The ball and McCann reached the bag at the same time, and Hudson's wrist crashed right into McCann's chest. Hudson was flopping like a fish on the ground and had to helped off the field.

A few pitches later, McCann (of all people) stole third on the pitcher, who threw wildly to third. McCann slide right into Reynolds' right leg and the ball got away. It looked for a second like Reynolds was badly hurt, too, but he stayed in the game.

Never figured Brian McCann would cause a wave of destruction on the base paths.

They're going to take McCann's name off the back of his jersey and replace it with Speed Merchant.

In the postgame TV interview he said he took off for third because Reynolds was so far off the line in the shift for Kotchman.

Oh, and good God Almight are the Diamondbacks a lousy defensive team.
