Got a chance to see Saturday's and Sunday's Royals games in person. Three highlights:

On Friday, during the nightly "Kiss Cam" segment, there were hijinks. One guy, instead of kissing his woman, grabbed her head and shoved it in his lap. The camera couldn't cut away fast enough.

Sunday, well... let's start with Tony Pena Jr., DH, he of the .148 average, rapping not one, but two hits in extras, including the game-winner.

Best moment was the kiddie hot dog race. Three kids in different suits, mustard, ketchup and relish. The race from the KC bullpen down the first-base warning track. The poor kid in the relish suit bit it. HARD. Luckily it was on the grass, not the track. But the guy was wobbly and had to have to people help walk him off the field.

    All-in-all, good times.

Wow. So, I take it Arizona claimed him off waivers?

I'd love to see the list of everyone placed on waivers after the deadline.

Cubs went 10-3 during the two-week stretch with the Brewers (sweep on the road, BTW), Pirates, Astros and Cardinals. I don't know if I like their chances at this point, or if the inevitable swoon will be that much harder to take.

I guess Arizona had a big need for a .220 hitter.

maybe it was a need for a guy who has 32 home runs and an OBP of 373

    That's a horrible, horrible OPS. ;)

To be fair, with that average, he'll fit right in with Eric Byrnes, Justin Upton and Chris Young.

I don't understand the fixation with that 1 stat, he immediately becomes their leader in homeruns, ops and second in OBP. He is a flawed baseball player, but he will help that offense.
