As I type this the Cardinals are polishing off the Giants and sending baseball into the break.

It appears I eeked out a 10-4 win over Dooley -- and by eeked, I mean it with very narrow wins in a few stats -- and held off the Hots who beat up BYH by an identical 10-4 score.

Standings heading into the short week:

    Uncle Rico 113 75 8
    Evil Hots 111 79 6
    Symp Dest 106 82 8
    20-cent 104 84 8
    3-Milers 103 86 7
    Has Beens 95 96 5
    WKBT 90 92 14
    Fnords 86 96 14
    Ponson 88 100 8
    Flowers 77 108 11
    Lumberjacks 74 111 11
    B2B Champs 74 112 10

Lady and gentlemen, tis the season for trades. I've got a closer available for an OF with either a lot of pop in his bat and/or a lot of SBs.

The Evil Hots have decided to release all closers and forego the category for the rest of the season.

Have a nice All-Star break. See ya next week, Rico.

Did I hold on for the win and break my slump?

    Thank god.
I was really in a downward spiral.
Although, I probably won't be able to manage my team while on vacation, so it probably doesn't matter.
    Or maybe that will help.

Buck, you can set your teams starters each day for the whole week ahead of time. Just click on each date and submit a lineup. I think they'll even have projected starters for the whole week.

it's also nice that this week there is no innings pitched requirement.

    Goddamn I suck.

Well now at least I can change my name again: First to Worst.

Never thought I'd stoop so low as to fall below Chris L. no offense to Chris. Ahh who am I kidding that douchebag doesn't lurk here anymore. I mean, hi Chris!

I can set up my lineup for the end of this week before I leave home.
I had planned to be computer free after that, but I guess I'll have to capitulate and stay wired in.
But only minimally so. I swear.
Nothing but lounging, reading, eating, drinking, socializing and the very occassional log on to update the lineup.
I haven't even left yet and I've already broken my promise to myself.

How will the short week screw things up? No IP, so the Hots can't use that as a complaining point. Gotta wonder how all the pitching rotations will shape up after a three-day break. I'm just glad to see Derek Lee back in the lineup.

If I hold on to 1st after this, I'll believe in Rico. Until then, I'm just enjoying a nice run against the 'easy' competition.

No complaints, it's just a worthless category for losers who have nothing else to lose, so they stockpile pitchers for a cheap W. No skill involved whatsoever.

Some skill and lots of attention, actually. It takes no skill to just draft a few guys and let them sit them all season hoping to get you some ERA, WHIP and K/BB points. If you want a chance at winning the other stats, you need quality, as you so correctly pointed out many moons ago. Methinks my strategy isn't working too badly since I've climbed from that 16-game hole you pointed out a few weeks ago.
