How much extra does it cost to install AM in a car?

Let the damn driver decide if he wants to use it or if the "electromagnetic interference" is more hassle than its worth.

If you want to get rid of something, get rid of the tire pressure sensors.

B.T. Express had smash hits "Do It (Til You're Satistfied)" and instrumental "The Express" on AM radio in 1974. Our high school bowling team was named the "Bowling Ball (B.B.) Express" in their honor.

Driving under a power line while listening to AM is a crappy experience. Good luck listening to AM inside a Tesla.

As a kid, I would visit my grandmother in Brooklyn and sometimes have problems falling asleep because I wasn’t used to hearing city sounds outside and the heating unit made her apartment like an oven.

So my mother would bring in my late grandfather’s vintage radio into the room and set the dial to an AM station so I could fall asleep to music. I remember listening to Wolfman Jack and Cousin Bruce and fall asleep next to the faded glow of the radio.

After my grandmother died, my aunt got the radio. Last I saw, it occupied a nice corner of her living room.

WKBW 1520 and CHUM 1050 were staples of my WNY youth.

WWWE for Cleveland Indians games, WCCO for Twins games, and Bismarck's KFYR blasted throughout the upper midwest.

In Wyoming we can still get 850 KOA and Rockies games. And we listen to KOWB as white noise.

Spent many a day and night my first 18 years listening to the Dodgers on 790 and the Lakers/Kings on 570.

Got into rap in the mid '80s and KDAY 1580 was the station.

I'd think the clear channels in Chicago (should be good conductivity) would hit both coasts.

It might depend on the direction of the signal. WBZ cam reach 38 states and most of eastern Canada according to this page:

    https://dbpedia.org/page/WBZ_(AM)

It states WBZ sends most of its signal westward.

When I was a teen, we lived on top of a big hill in the country, pretty much the highest point for miles and miles. I had a clock radio (one of the old ones that flipped the numbers for the time) and I could pick up Phoenix, Chicago, Denver, San Antonio, Dallas and other AM stations. I listened to random NBA games when I wasn't trying to record songs off the FM radio.

Somewhat ironically, given that I noted earlier on this thread that I prefer to listen to the local teams on XM when they are home, I ended up listening to a Mets game on AM the other day b/c I'd forgotten to look up what XM station was carrying it and I didn't want to be scrolling the dial while driving. #ResponsibleDriver It was fine and I don't think I even heard a KARS 4 KIDS commercial!

Do the Mets not have a specific channel for their PxP?

    The Rays do.
