On the market in 1957. Off in 1961. Four years.

I bet there are considerably more items that were considered safe and actually ended up being safe.

Jives with what I read (6-7 liters in a day of soda sweetened 100% with aspartame).

Not to mention that it led to a considerable tightening of drug-approval regs/process.

    I'm sure there are.

I couldn't care less about this issue -- I drink water constantly, occasionally some fruit juice and a beer now and then, and that's it. You asked why someone might think it "seems dumb to fuck around with something like" creating artificial chemicals to be ingested as food, and off the top of my head, I offered a potential reason.

I think it's a fair answer. I'm trying to think of an instance where this happened. It happens a lot with vehicles and other machinery, for example. But that's typically a design defect - like the GM morass going on. But food? Trying to think, particularly in the modern regularly era.

Transfats were originally thought of as safe. Indeed, they were thought of as safer than animal fats (e.g., butterfat).

The Blue Zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in the White Zone.

Small sample size. But I have drank 8-10 Diet Cokes a day for years. I'm 5-9, 155-160.
