Some network outlets also won’t show footage of the local drunk ranting from his barstool.

Good take ... and amen on the mood music. It should have been barred from respectable news organizations decades ago. Richard Salant rolls in his grave.

I think the thread has moved from the political biases of NPR to the production values. but mood music and lots of stories on grief for whatever reason have been staples for years. Ratings for NPR are often hard to determine because I don't think all stations subscribe, but I believe they are generally very good and the stations among market leaders.

    As I previously clearly stated.

The NY Post is not a news outlet. It’s a dishonest right-wing propaganda machine. Which is why the story was and is looked at with skepticism.

And the story wasn’t thrown out in the cold. It got elevated attention because of the Twitter decision.

As a conservative who listens to NPR for my news and hearing anybody on Fox News makes my skin crawl, I can't shrug my shoulders and say "That's just the audience and market." Especially when the organization gets money from the government.

Berliner wrote about journalists openly ignoring alternate theories. If this came out of the NYT or WaPo, it would be huge.

What alternate theories need to be explored? That the 2020 election was really stolen? That Covid vaccines kill people? That Nancy Pelosi orchestrated J6?
If the mainstream media ignores certain stories it’s probably for the same reason they don’t look into whether or not Bigfoot is real.

I don't see how that wouldn't be a meltdown if it were done anywhere else and directed at another official.

    It would be a meltdown.

A lot journalists believe Trump is the exception, such a unique threat to the republic that customary approaches don't apply.

We have had a lot of presidential candidates lose elections in circumstances a lot more dubious than in 2020 and we did not have a January 6. Just since WWII Nixon and Gore come to mind. So I think it is fair to label Trump as a unique threat.

Trump had no business being president and has no business being president again.
If you really think what he did to overturn the 2020 election was politics as usual, get help.
