If you can find a logical flaw in my post and point it out, I'd be happy to clarify it for you.

driving 60 in a 50 is not the equiv. of taking hgh, period.

Didn't say it was. It was a throwaway line at the bottom of my response to 21's question that was intended to demonstrate that people bend laws/rules all the time that they consider outdated or overly restrictive.

I wonder what percentage of athletes recovering from surgery or serious injury use HGH. My guess is Ankiel is not in a minority. In football that number has to be extremely high.

so, it really wasn't a throwaway line since it stood for so much, in your words, was it?

I haven't read all five pages yet but pardon me for laughing my ass off at this. Is anybody really surprised by this revelation? Another Tony LaRussa-managed player using PEDs? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

When are people going to wake up and realize that the St. Louis Cardinals are doing more steroids than the East German women's Olympic team?

I didn't place any importance in it, you did. The gist of my response to 21 was contained in the two paragraphs above it.

This is a good thread with some interesting discussion, please stop bogging it down with nonsense.

I'm sure it occurred to a lot of people. The accusations were flying on this very board last night before this story came out, when there was absolutely no evidence beyond the guy hitting a bunch of homers.

Just because evidence was found later doesn't excuse the irresponsible manner in which the accusations were made. Question his performance and wonder aloud if he had chemical help? Fine. Make cracks about how he will start hitting longer home runs when he "ups the dosage" without any real evidence at all? I'm surprised if I have to explain the problem with that on a site for journalists.

Obviously, now we have to assume the worst...because there is actual evidence to back it up. We just have to be careful about making those types of assumptions purely based on performance....or just because we dislike and distrust the organization or manager they play for.

and you are full of shit, period. stop bogging down the discussion with stupidity. taking hgh is not something to be taken as lightly as speeding ... that was the correlation you were making, don't deny it.

If you would like to join what has been a nice, civil discussion about an interesting topic, I'd be happy to entertain any thoughts you have on the subject. If you're going to be foul-mouthed and argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, I'm going to stop responding to you. Simple as that.

We also can't assume Ankiel has stopped using the stuff. He's not ordering it from this place in Florida but that doesn't mean he's not getting it from somewhere else. He's dirty as shit until proven otherwise.

I did read through the whole thread and somebody made a comment about Albert Pujols getting away clean again, or something to that effect. I'm not going to go look it up, but this is the kind of stuff that bothers me. Find one tiny bit of evidence that Pujols has ever used any PEDs other than his performance on the field and the fact that he is a fairly big guy. Just one bit. I know I haven't seen it yet.
