I was thinking something along the lines of fines and suspensions for GMs and managers. That'd clean it up real quick.

Why not? Organizational sanctions work in other sports.

Oh, and the human MasterLock cries foul. Ironic. Or is it paradoxical. I can never remember.

Which is why the reaction here, on this board, is overblown. There's no proof that he bought or used after it was banned. Only conjecture. Find the proof and then the outrage is legitimate

The media's disdain and disgust for PED's is far, far, far greater than that of the general public.

I answered 21's question and it should've ended there. Telling me to shut up just backs up what I said earlier. The topic is Rick Ankiel, not Moddy's tiff with me or 21's butting in.
Somehow, people just don't understand where I'm coming from with this and I'm miffed.
And armchair, you speak for yourself. Not SportsJournalists.com.
As for fines and suspensions for GMs and managers, that's not a bad idea.

Which is why I said it was a nothing story. It's missing the element of proof.

Raising an eyebrow is one thing, but what facts do we know other than his name allegedly associated with an HGH shipment.
As of right now, Rick Ankiel isn't Shawne Marriman, Rodney Harrison or Marion Jones. There's definitely a level of suspicion, but Ankiel still deserves the benefit of the doubt until more facts -- solid, concrete facts -- are found that shows he used it.
We can follow the smoke and make our own assumptions, but they're still just assumptions at this point. If you saw smoke coming from what looked to be a grass fire and called 911, you'd think you did the right thing, but it could be some farmer burning his wild grass in a controlled setting.
I'm not a Cardinals fan or a Rick Ankiel fan, but if I were in his shoes, I'd hope I'd be given my chance to explain myself in the court of public opinion.

I think the negative attention raised anytime someone's alleged to having used a banned substance makes proving innocence impossible.
Even if Ankiel didn't cheat, it won't matter because much of the public already thinks he did just because there's an allegation out there.
If that happened to me, and I was innocent, I'd be pissed.

That court of public opinion can be a mother. Character assassination is tough to beat but Ankiel has been through harder situations. I want to hear what he has to say before formulating an opinion.

Actually, he spoke for a lot of us, Boots. Yes, Moddy made a reference to your behavior in his admonishment of TP...we get it. We don't care. We don't need any more of this ridiculous flame war. Now please move on.

Why could you not let this BS end? This is a thread about Ankiel. Why did you feel compelled to say anything about Moddy's tiff with me? It's a personal issue with Moddy. Everything was fine and we're talking about a "big story" and here you come with this crap. You could've said it in a PM and let it go at that.
The point is, and I hope no one else joins in the attempted gang bang is that this thread is about Ankiel. Anything else should be in a PM.

I don't think it's a witch hunt per se. However, it is interesting to note that the NY Daily News "broke" this story. They're not into character assassinations.

And the P-D is too busy cheerleading to do any real investigative work.
