NY Daily News: Ankiel linked to HGH

At least Huckleberry just proved why is is a huckleberry.

Nobody is looking to fry Ankiel. Almost everything that happens in baseball these days comes under some suspicion because if what we don't know.
The Daily News was given some information (probably from the Albany DA who is working the online steroid sales case) and, if huckleberry even bothered to read the story, cites "pharmacy records" throughout.
The News has had a team following this case and all steroid/PED related issues for a while now and there is one thing I know about TJ Quinn, whom I have worked with ... unlike some of his tabloid competitors at, say, the NY Post, he does not throw shit against the wall to see what sticks.

This is a legitmate story.. yes, there are some gaps still to be filled in as to whether Ankiel is still using HGH, but -- based on what I read in the Daily News story -- I don't for a minute doubt that he ordered and used HGH at some point in his comeback.

Wow. This thread really brought the stupid.

  6. I agree with spnited on this one. I'm surprised to see so many sports journalists on here have such a low opinion of their own industry. Why can't newspapers report on Ankiel without being out to get him? I know it's a tabloid paper, but the story itself seemed pretty balanced.

Add: And when you do a big investigation, you don't always get every single detail in that first story - but it does help shake the tree leading to more information.

This may be stereotyping but sportswriters are cynical and fanboys at heart. They thing they know everything and don't know anything.
Ankiel's statements didn't surprise me. By the same tokenit didn't sway me. Until he answers the questions of if he is still taking HGH or has taken it, I'm trying to remain neutral.

Major League Baseball's laws do not supercede THE LAWS OF THE LAND. HGH AND STEROIDS ARE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES. Push comes to shove, MLB won't win a fight with the feds.

And yet quite illegal to obtain without a doctor's prescription.

Is that what you thing, too? Then why not find another message board for your ill-informed, subliterate drivel?

No, MLB won't win a fight with the feds. Nor does it want to get into a fight for fear of other things that may happen.
I think in the end, MLB won't be the only organization with this problem.
