NY Daily News: Ankiel linked to HGH

And we know this. Two NFLers, a coach and a player and 10 (possibly more) WWE wrestlers were named as having purchased HGH and other steroids from the same company that Glaus and Ankiel did.

    The dam's about to burst.

Don't PM me, boots. If you want better responses, make better posts. And if you disdain sports writing and sports writers so, why post here?

You and your antics are what is wrong on many of these threads. If you'd stop and see what you're doing, maybe the disdain for you would end.
This thread is about Rick Ankiel. Not about a PM that I sent to you requesting that you stop what you are doing. What was said in the PM was just that, personal.
There are rules here and there is a concentrated effort on my part to keep my posts about the topics. You and many others ignore those rules and somehow I get blamed for threads locking.
Try to remain on the topic at hand, please.
Hockeybeat the thing that puzzles me is how widespread this really is. I can't believe GMs and owners don't know what is going on.

How does that work? I'll construct a possible scenario, from ignorance: Ankiel is legitimately prescribed HGH (which makes it legal), prior to the substance being officially banned by baseball. Do the rules of baseball then give him a free pass? Or do they make a rule up to cover this situation as they go along?

I'm not knowledgeable in this area.

That was the scenerio I was thinking about.

I had another scenario in mind.

And what would that be? It is hard to imagine a scneario where a doctor prescribes HGH.

Don't recall the post. Perhaps you can dig it up? But what I likely said is that the Daily News had one significant story -- the one in which they found some fed who provided great information about supply lines and who had apparently warned MLB. That was an important story, even though it wasn't discussed a lot at the time. Looking back, I'd also say that the News story in which someone "overheard" Bonds' grand jury testimony was a fairly important, too. But I make a distinction between quantity and quality. This story wasn't even the most important PED story that broke yesterday.

Jealous? Hardly. I'm not in competition with the Daily News, I haven't published a single word on the PED topic, and I'm past the point in my career where I could even afford to work for a newspaper. Nonetheless, I've read the Daily News pretty much every day since I was about six, so I'm familiar with the content on a day-to-day basis.

So Cran, what is your opinion of the story? I think it's missing elements that could've made it a great story. Also, now that Ankiel has responded, did he get that opportunity before the story broke?
