That's a better way to say what I was trying to say.

    Thanks, you mean ol' bastard.

  2. I'll just agree to disagree. We all have our opinions on how stories of this nature should be handled. I respect and understand your opinions that differ with mine, as I hope you would respect and understand my thoughts as well.

This thing hasn't been locked yet? Bigger upset than Chaminade-Virginia (or Appalachian State-Michigan, if you're so inclined).

why, joe, because we've maanaged to tone down the shit stirring?

And, again, huck, you say they never gave Ankiel a chance to tell his side when they did call Boras, Ankiel's agent, who had no comment. What would you have had them do, ask the Cards to give them Ankiel's cell number?
If you reach out to the agent and he says there will be no comment, you have given Ankiel's side a chance to reply and they refused.

  5. It's obvious you've never written an investigative piece of any kind. Here's how it goes:

The subject will not talk to the reporter because he's hoping the story will go away - maybe if he doesn't talk it won't get printed. Not talking also gives the subject time to consider how he will respond if the paper does print the story.

He gets to see everything the newspaper has and then he gets 100 percent control of his response - by calling a press conference and giving a prepared statement.

Ankiel's agent would have been foolish to allow his client to speak to the reporters the day before the story ran - the risk of Ankiel hanging himself with his own words would have been too great.

Come on, old man. He agreed to disagree. No need for invective.

  9. He's no daisy.

  10. A perfect gentleman, he is ...

He also backed off later. But way to keep things inflamed.
