Will Ankiel be charged with anything? No. Will he face a penalty from baseball? No. Are we supposed to be stunned to find out that someone recovering from "Tommy John" surgery three years ago used a drug that's commonly used by millions of Americans because it works? I guess so.

Cardinals GM Walt Jocketty said: "This is the first I've heard of this. If it's true, obviously it would be very tragic, along with everything else we've had happen to us this year."

    Oh boo fucking hoo.

Huh? How did that statement merit your vitriol? They did have a player die on them, which I'm sure is no fun for them, the circumstance of the death not really being relevant to the point.

They had a player die while driving shitfaced. And on the phone. And weren't there drugs in the car (I honestly don't remember). It's a fucking miracle he only killed himself.

And if it's sooooo bad, I'm not sure a guy getting busted for HGH would be quite as bad as a guy ... you know ... dying.

Nothing that has happened to the Cardinals this season is tragic. That includes someone who gets himself liquored up and kills himself in a car accident. Certainly a cheater would not be tragic.

Completely legal and has many medically approved uses.

sadly, hitting home runs isn't one of the reasons for those uses.

HGH is of course legal with a doctor's prescription. I would question, however, the volume of Ankiel's purchase. 12 months worth? When I'm sick, I tend to get my medicines one small bottle at a time - as I presume most of us do.

That was my point. Unless Ankiel also has pituitary gland deficiency, he probably doesn't qualify.

I really believe, though, that hgh will eventually find common usage as an anti-aging aid for the post-babyboomer era. Our generation is too driven toward health and longevity and wellness to overlook the potential upside of a hormone that can keep us younger.

agreed, dog. from what i understand, hgh will be the next generation's vitamin ... and they will live much, much longer than us.
