Yeah there came a point of no return. The lack of attendance in some years (see above posts) hurts motivation even if it’s your own damn fault. I think there was a chance to turn it around. Owners pissed it away and then made up their minds and lied to everyone.

But yeah, when you make no money is hard to suddenly pretend you’re the Yankees … unless you’re the Padres …

Will be fascinating to see how a 30,000-seat stadium does in Vegas with the mix of locals and tourists. Hockey got dibs first and the team was great immediately, then of course the NFL is the NFL. But after the initial year or two (and after many opposing fans have made their road trips), how well will baseball draw especially if the team sucks?

Highly likely to happen before the next A's title.

Highly likely before the Vegas stadium is completed.

I wasn't directing anything directly at you, even though it read that way.

And I am certainly not shitting on the A's fans. I've been to the Coliseum, and watched a million Angels-A's games on TV.
The A's fans (the few, the proud) are great.

But this shared collective between the fans, the owners, and the stadium powers-that-be isn't working, and hasn't worked for a lifetime. Time to let the patient die peacefully.

    Fair. Thanks for the clarification.

My colleague who is an avid A’s fan was handling it well. Commiserating with a Chargers fan. They’ll find their way.

There will be some. This isn't a generational rivalry like Cubs-White Sox or Yankees-Mets. But my bet is the hard core A's fan won't. Think Yankees attendance going down after the Giants and Dodgers left NYC. But also think sellouts along the shores of McCovey Cove for interleague games.
