Absolutely but isn't the Klan an anachronism? I mean seriously, aren't they as about as relevant as The Orange Parade?

Nothing is irrelevant when someone threatens anothers life.

  3. The Klan is retarded, no doubt, but certainly relevant. Shit is alive and well down here in the South.

I didn't say it should be. It's disgusting.

We're all created equal, and we're all God's children. It's not my job to judge anyone ... we just have to beat this through law enforcement and education. Start with the kids. Teach love and tolerance and understanting.

    Look, I'm a dumb Canadian.

I'm trying to figure out whether the Klan still has the same influence they had 30 years ago or whether they were a another fringe nutbar group that no one pays attention to.

Until most children are taught that people are equal, it's just going to keep getting worse. Why does different have to be bad? Who cares how many Mexicans come here every day? My European ancestors were immigrants, too.

There will always be assholes who will follow them.

The Klan doesn't have the same influence as it did years ago, especially in the South, but it's still alive in some places. Up until a few years ago, it was mostly old, washed-up rednecks who were no real threat. Then several controversial topics, like immigration, popped up and the Klan started to grow.

It's become surprisingly popular up North. There have been quite a few stories recently on the Klan in places like Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.

    Here's a story from the Anti-Defamation League:

Because that hate was forced into their heads from an early age. They probably think what they're doing is right. Most of them are probably not assholes. They've just been handed down this culture for generations. That's the biggest problem — education. It's not about people being assholes.

With more and more South and Central Americans coming in every day, the Klan will try to shift and hate them. They need an agenda to recruit with.

Don't fool yourself. There are many closet members.

The bottom line is we don't know. I don't know, and no one on here — INCLUDING YOU — knows. I just hope it's not that many, and I'm pretty sure it isn't in any mid-sized or big city. Rural areas? I don't know one way or the other.
