Did they just casually recanonize the Infinite Empire?

    He was in Rebels.

He's been discussed on Mandalorian. He's definitely gonna show up.

At least according to ole Wikipedia, there is interest in bringing Mara Jade in at some point, but Zahn retains rights to the character and he'd have to agree to it - which he seems open to. Obviously though, her Legends canon would have to be heavily tweaked, so I'm not sure how well-received her appearance would be. (I kind of assume that if she DOES show up, it'll be in some kind of Luke-centric show, which, no clue how they do, unless they do sign up Sebastian Stan for that.)

Yup, but not everybody has watched the animated shows. Ahsoka was hunting for him during her appearance in The Mandalorian.

I'm not sure how they do it, either. They don't seem to want to recast Luke and I'm not sure Mara Jade really fits into the larger story without him and other Jedi.

How would you introduce her without Talon Karrde? You'd have to invent a new backstory. And you can't introduce Karrde without making the trilogy canon, which Disney will not do.

Why can't you introduce Karrde without making the entire trilogy canon? Can't they come up with some other reason to run into a smuggler?

Would Zahn be OK piecemealing his books like that? He allowed it once, but who knows if they asked him for more. And they're 50/50 on backstories so far. They nailed Mando but failed, IMO, at Boba Fett. That also makes me hesitant. Favreau and Filoni aren't perfect, and I'd hate to see such an awesome character wasted by bad writing.

Perhaps Zahn could stop all of it. I'm just saying that they can bring in Karrde many different ways.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see a faithful adaptation of the trilogy, but that isn't going to happen.

I agree that they failed with Boba Fett. The old expanded universe version of the character was so much better.

I think a concept from the Empire perspective would be cool, in capable hands.

I think Zahn's books, and now, "Andor," shows you why a reasonable person might side with the Empire. Like, the "we're literally space wizards" shit isn't put out there on front street, and most people are just trying to eek out a living.
