Wanted to get this answered before too late.

It's Jason Kendall, with 2,160. Fisk had 2,145 as a catcher.

Kendall had 2,195 total hits and played 2,025 games at catcher. I had no idea he was that accomplished.

Sometimes baseball surprises you. I had no idea Juan Pierre had 2,217 base hits. That's a lot. Mark Grudzielanek had 2,040. And here I thought they were just run-of-the-mill players. You have to be fucking good to get 2,000 hits in the major leagues.

 

Just to expound on your point, 297 players have 2,000 or more major league hits, with Machado and Arenado in the 1,800s. Considering the sheer number of players since 1871 (or 1876), that's a short list.

I would never have guessed in a million years that Pierre has three more hits than Joe DiMaggio.

 

Juan Pierre: HOF?
