Jerod Mayo and Mike Vrabel. Duh.

Saw this one in John W. Miller's new bio of Earl Weaver, to be released on March 4 (I have an advance copy):

The top-5 MLB winningest managers (by percentage) when he took over the Orioles at midseason in 1968, with 1,000 or more MLB wins:

    1. Earl Weaver, .583

    2. Davey Johnson, .562

    3. Bobby Cox (.556)

    4. Billy Martin (.553)

Who is #5 (as of the end of the 2023 season)?

    I’ll start with LaRussa.

Dave Roberts is at 851 wins and .627 percentage. He should top the list by the end of the 2025 season since the Dodgers won't lose a game.

It's not LaRussa. Roberts will probably supplant this man from the list.

    Is it Lasorda?

The answer is Charlie Manuel, at .548. He has exactly 1,000 wins.
