  1. mediocre is not a strong word... bad would be a strong word.

if there are 100 sports columnists, wojo would be in the 50 to 75 range.

he was a very good college reporter. he shined in that role.

I heard they NAILED that Big Bitch to a Cross!

Other than Vivian's Payback - Whitlock was largely ignored.

Somehow, I find his "I Love Black People" sig to be inconsistent with his posts. Might just be me.

Hey, I got it ... he loves black people as long as they make less $$$ than him.

  4. Because it was hard to follow.

(I've done Middle East research for a think tank...it was still hard to follow.)

  5. Without a doubt, this post is the highlight of the thread so far. Sportsbruh lulled us to sleep by not posting until Page 6, then...he did what Sportsbruh does.

    Delightfulness all around.

  6. That's a pretty ridiculous statement, Jason. "If there are 100 sports columnists"? Do you mean the 100 sports columnists thought to be the best in the country? If so, "Wojo would be in the 50 to 75 range" is a debatable but definitely valid (and non-insulting) opinion. Without that specificity, though - without telling us if you're talking about the TOP 100 or a randomly-selected-from-everywhere group of 100, which seems to be your implication - the assessment is insulting in its (deliberate?) inexcusable vagueness.

It has been 14 hours since the attention whore started this "look at me" thread.
Does anyone yet know what the wannabe King of Black America has to say about thls, other than wojo sucks and everyone at ESPN is out to get him?

surprisingly, i have a different opinion than most of you.

i think whitlock simply gave his opinion about the topic of race, something he's wrote a plenty. i think he gave his honest opinion and cnn and good morning america found him. throughout this imus debacle, whitlock always said something of substance. on the other hand, time and time again, i saw the true opportunist, vivian stringer, making a shitload of public appearances adding nothing of relevance other than she and her players were victims ... and if i remember correctly, imus never uttered a single word concerning stringer.

whitlock does tend to love being the center of attention, and i love to bust his balls every time i believe he's grandstanding. this isn't the case this time around for me, though. whitlock gained some respect from me for the way he handled himself throughout all this. for my money, everybody else played the clown and whitlock simply called out the idiots. what's wrong with that?

I guess tackling issues of race by attacking elements of popular culture qualifies as "substance" nowadays. Do you actually believe that the media outlets you mentioned engage in a sincere nuts and bolts discussion of race other than addressing nefarious comments or issues of salient shock value?

I'm not surprised that a columnist whose talk show styled prose mirrors that of a 30 minute television format where providing a brazen zinger as a quick solution finds his way onto their telecasts. Whitlock is the perfect bride in that union.

Jason, you shouldn't worry though. Broadcast media's definition of popular culture and its indubitable reflection of African American society will provide you with enough nourishment to keep your belly full.

Hey shotglass, I happen to also love black people, hope it doesn't offend you. I dare you to imply my constant questioning of Whitlock and his superficial articles has some form of monetary component. Despite what you heard, we're not all jealous of each other.

and that's a bullshit argument. whitlock did address the bigger picture in his columns. or did you even read them?

and yes, in our culture, cnn is about as deep as it gets unless you're going to the discovery channel to watch a 1-hour special. but i really didn't see many of those made on the nappy headed ho subject.

i will end tiring of defending whitlock, but that was a lame attempt to tear the man and my post down, chief.

Yes I did. And Jason asking Billy Hunter and David Stern to move the All Star game to Europe is somehow solving what?

There is such a huge gray area regarding race in this country, and its intricasies are way beyond the commentary Jason or CNN provides. But for someone like yourself who never cared to look deeper into those issues, Jason is some sort of knight in shining armor.

one question out of thousands does not make an argument.

and don't blame me because 12 percent of americans admit they get most of their news from either leno or letterman. i'm addressing reality, not laying societal blame for its stupidity.
