And Stringer was known to who, exactly?

Anyone who's followed women's college basketball for any length of time.

you're right, gb. if you don't whore yourself out to ESPN you're nobody, even if you've been to four Final 4s

You make my point for me. I'm sorry, I know he's an attention seeker, but Whitlock was better known to the public than Stringer was before Imus happened, probably because of the first part of this sentance.

What with the Scoop feud to his National columns on Page 2 and now AOL sports to his numerous television appearences, you can't be arguing this.

And how much attention was paid to those final fours? Everyone's quick to point out the low ratings and attention women's basketball gets, but as soon as it gives them a chance to whip up on Whitlock some more, everyone's watching it.

Wrong. I've followed women's college basketball (as much as the average sports fan would) and I had no clue who C. Viv was until the Imus debacle. When I think of women's college basketball coaches, I think of Summitt or Geno. Not C. Viv. Sorry.

Point is, did Oprah fans know who Jason Whitlock was before this? How about casual CNN viewers?

Unless Whitlock throws himself into the debate like he did, he doesn't get those TV appearances. That's why it's funny to me that Whitlock calls out Stringer as an opportunist.

  9. all the people celebrating should hold their tongues until i've responded. despite any conclusions you may have reached from readiing wojo's fair-and-balanced prose, which, as he stated, wasn't about me, i did speak at the panel.

Indeed, we shall not speak until the wannabe King sets us straight.

If you aren't a regular ESPN viewer or a big-time women's college basketball follower, you probably wouldn't know C. Viv or Whitlock. The majority probably didn't know either until the Imus thing.

When can we expect a column, Jason?
