Offending someone -- does intent need to be considered?

    Of course intent has to be considered.
    So do the actual words said and the context in which they were said.
    And just because a person is offended does not mean that reaction is reasonable.
    And just because a person "didn't know" or "didn't mean to offend" doesn't automatically clear him/her from giving offense.
