He's on his third inning of work right now, so he's either completely healthy or Terry Francona is shitfaced.

I now hate the Red Sox. I may even have to start rooting for the Yankees just out of spite.

Can you tell I traded Papelbon for a draft pick in a keeper league, which I wouldn't have even considered doing if they had made this decision a month and a half ago?

Now all I need is Harden, who I kept in what had been Papelbon's spot, to hurt himself again so this can be a complete disaster.

I know...plus I also probably just lost my shortstop. Rafael Furcal was carted off the field today. Supposedly a sprained ankle, but I don't think the x-ray results are in yet.

OK, so I'm in a deep, NL-only, keeper, $263 for 23 players salary cap league. Here are my keepers as of this morning, but I could change all by early this afternoon, when they're due.

C Josh Bard $3 (think he's going to have big year w/ Piazza gone, look at his #s last year)
    OF Jason Bay $21
    OF Jeff Francouer $6
OF Matt Murton $6 (heard he's the full-time guy, at least early)
P Freddy Garcia $3 (not hurt badly, is he?)
    P Rich Hill $3
    P Tim Hudson $9
    P Bronson Arroyo $6
    P Chuck James $4
    SS Stephen Drew $3

    Other chances
CR James Loney $3 (hitting the shit out of the ball this spring, but won't start until Nomar gets hurt)
C Russell Martin $3 (think Bard will have bigger #s)
OF Barry Bonds $26 (always intriguing)
OF Aaron Rowand $6 (never liked him, wanted more steals)
P Jorge Julio $3 (not the closer)
P Clay Hensley $3 (like this kid a lot, but I can only keep 10)
P Mike Pelfrey $3 (probably starting the year in AAA, right?)

Some help from my SportsJournalists.com brethren would be much appreciated. Hensley and Loney are making this decision difficult, and I like Russ Martin a lot, too.

I like what you've got there. I'd keep Russell over Bard, but that's close enough that you should go with your preference. Pelfrey might make the Mets' rotation, but who would you cut to make room? Keeping him or Hensley over Hudson might make some sense. Depends on whether you buy into Hudson bouncing back with his new conditioning regimen or not (I prefer Hensley).

Garcia's injury isn't bad. He seems to think he'll be ready for the start of the season.

Yeah, the Martin-Bard thing sucks. But Bard had great numbers as the backup/pinch-hitter last season, and he's hitting it well this spring, too. The risk in Pelfrey is if I keep him and he starts the season healthy in the minors, he goes into the free-agent pool. And I do buy the Hudson thing, but I might be stupid. Hensley's a kid I'd really like to keep ... I traded for him last season. I also traded for Loney, Drew and James (and fuckin Kyle Davies, asshole) when I realized I couldn't possibly make a run for the title. I'd really like to keep Hensley and Loney.
