You never know... if the score is 28-26 like it was, going for two is a good option because you never know if you will score again.

Highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened- like say Appalachian State beating Michigan.

Also if you cant tell I'm a Michigan fan and the next five months of my life are meaningless now.

As a survivor of the 2003-04 era of Penn State football, which featured some brutal suckage, I pass along my condolences, too.

As a fellow Michigan fan, I don't know if words can describe this.

I can live with losing to Colorado on a hail mary.
I can live with going to the West Coast (Oregon, Washington and UCLA) and losing.
I can live with getting beat by Notre Dame — multiple times.
I can live with falling to Northwestern because a running back fumbles.
I can live with a disgusting loss to Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl, to Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl, to USC and Texas in the Rose Bowl.
I can live with losing to Ohio State — every once in a while.

But this is unacceptable. I can't wait until Carr leaves. His conservative nature doesn't work today — it barely did 10 years ago. His game plan is too predictable and then when he asks his team to pull off miracles, they usually can't because they're not used to opening things up. Instead of keeping his foot on the gas and stepping on opponents ' throats, Carr will put on the brakes and try to hang on.

The quicker Les Miles gets there, the better.

For the record: Lloyd Carr has lost the following in his career at Michigan, all by three points or less —
    1995: 2 of 4 losses Texas A&M by 2, Michigan State by 3
    1996: 2 of 4 losses Alabama by 3, Northwestern by 1
    1999: 1 of 2 losses Michigan State by 3
2000: all three losses UCLA by 3, Purdue by 1, Northwestern by 3
    2001: 1 of 4 Michigan State by 2
    2002: 1 of 3 Notre Dame by 2
2003: 1 of 3 Iowa by 3 (another loss by four)
    2004: 1 of 3 Texas by 1
2005: 1 of 5 Minnesota by 3 (two others by four)
    2007: 1 of 1 Appalachian St. by 2

Out of 37 total losses, 14 are by three points or less and another three are by four.

Sad to say, but Lloyd Carr, a good man, has been passed by with the way the college game goes these days.

He's probably still a better guy than many of us, me included.

Coaches, whatever you think of their records, are great men and great leaders.

Unless you're Nick Saban, of course. Great leader, asshole of a man.

Michigan is going to book the Dead Schembechlers this week.

    Why?

This song will be popular in Ann Arbor this week.

That's awesome. This whole thing is awesome. What a great way to open the college football season.

I have no doubt Lloyd Carr is an excellent man. He seems like he's well-grounded and easy to talk to in interviews.

But the people who say he's too damn predictable and conservative are dead on. When faced with open-up, explosive offenses like the one USC has, Michigan folds the tent. The play-calling is easy to figure out.

And Michigan was supposed to have this explosive offense. I have no doubt Manningham will play on Sundays in the future, and Henne's an OK QB (yes, just OK... he may own some records when he's done, but I've never been sold on the guy), but what they accomplished on Saturday was a big fat zero.

I wasn't going to pay close attention to football until baseball ended, and now I have ample reason (aside from fantasy leagues) not to do it. Thanks, Lloyd. In one game, you just made Mark Dantonio look like the best coach in Michigan (aside from Chuck Martin, but I'm biased... :) )

Exactly. Lloyd Carr is a good guy, but he don't know the big game anymore.

Michigan, a great program, needs a great young coach who knows how to kick ass.

  12. What, no votes for Marty Schottenheimer? :)
