  1. We really didn't get into that, unfortunately. I wish we had.
It was a setting where I was not the only one asking questions, and the interview was a lot more about him than about anything else.
He just said, basically, that was the biggest upset and he couldn't remember anything like it.

I disagree -- for now. It''s the first game. If Michigan goes 7-5, yeah, you're right. If Michigan runs the table to go 11-1 with wins over Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin, it's an anomaly. Virginia Tech struggled in its opener; is it ranked too high?
While it is a great upset, only the performance over the rest of the season will determine if Michigan's preseason ranking was the product of habit or actual performance. To think anything else is foolish.

If by history you mean what Hart, Henne and Manningham have done in the past, yeah, it was.

    Un-be-fucking-lievable.

Michigan got 39 points in this week's AP poll.

Anyone who voted for the Wolverines this week should be kicked off the panel, barred from future inclusion in the panel and have their noses rubbed in the paper like they were a dog who just shat on it.

How in the hell can anyone justify that vote? That's utterly ridiculous.

You Michigan fans are a piece of work.

Chad Henne -- claimed to be the second coming when he was plucked out of Penn State's hands -- sucks, John Navarre sucked, Drew Henson sucked, fuck, Tom Brady sucked!

    Bring back Brian Fucking Griese!

Next thing you're gonna tell me, David Terrell was a hack receiver and A-Train wasn't worthy of All-American status.

    I heart good ol' Lech.

"Pol-axing" is a term Tony Bruno occasionly uses to describe a team getting their asses and their heads handed to them.

No need to worry. Michigan will win this week. John Siebel said so. He said Lloyd Carr will coach the "sock off" his kids. The Michigan coaches will watch game film and spend extra time on the practice field. Wow. So that is why he has a national radio gig and I'm still in small town obscurity. BTW, Since when do colleges film games? That must be a new thing. Does Michigan's other opponents know of this advantage?

P.S. as a Penn St. fanboy---Muck you Fishigan!!! You lost to a F**king I-AA team!!

So . . . .what Big Ten team is your favorite, that you hate Michigan so damn much it's caused you to be an absolute crybaby on all the college football threads?

It's ONE GAME. They play 12 of them. The Wolverines have an enviable set of offensive players, including a Heisman candidate at RB. One, maybe two teams will go undefeated this year. Until they lose again, why can't they have a hiccup? A horrendous one, true. . . . but a 34-32 hiccup. If they lose this weekend, then clearly they'll need a miracle to avoid a lost season, especially by their standards.

I would ask the AP voters who had Michigan fifth nationally how they could honesty justify dropping Michigan from the poll completely based on a single result, against a talented D I-AA team that gee, has won consecutive national titles? How very knee-jerk of them.

Damn . . . . . all the whining about this has put me in the odious position of defending Michigan. Hell, I'm almost rooting for them at this point, based on the "The last result is the most important!!!!!!!!!!" attitude displayed by the AP voters and by some here.

If I wanted to deal with overzealous reactions, I'd listen to sports talk radio. I expect better from the AP and the posters here.

Sentiment that Michigan's preseason rank of No. 5 was too high, is dead on.

But voters have no business being so damn knee-jerk that they drop them completely. You knew what their strength and weaknesses were, you still thought they were one of the absolute top teams, stand by it. Don't be a reactionary because you're afraid your local sports radio dunce will take you to task. Don't artificially "punish" a team for a bad loss; ask yourself if you can with full integrity drop them completely after ranking them so damn highly.

I had them fourth in my first poll. And if I thought they were THAT good, why would I drop them completely out because they had an incredibly bad day against a solid team?

    I just don't get it.
