I-AA teams vs. BCS conference I-As, what's the record? I bet it's not "all the time."

A BCS conference team losing to Appy State is a huge fucking embarrassment. The Mountaineers are fast, but they don't have size, and they don't have depth. They have fewer scholarships, and 55 or more of their 63 scholarship guys are I-AA players. No way, no way, no way should a BCS conference team ever lose to them.

 

Umm, NO, Steve Smith played in the very early 80s BEFORE Harbaugh. And after Smith Michigan has had other option running style starting quarterbacks like Michael Taylor and Demetrius Brown.

I am presuming UM beats ND in The Big House, given the deer-caught-in-headlights look Clausen had at times last night.

This should end up being a stellar game -- two teams that totally suck.

 

When I say all the time, I mean several times a year. It wasn't meant to be taken literally, only that it's not a shock when it happens. And Appalachian State would absolutely be competitive with several bad BCS teams -- Duke, Northwestern, Mississippi State, Stanford, Iowa State, etc.

 

With Penn State looming the following week for Michigan -- hello, 0-4?

 

But all of the above winning at Michigan Stadium would also be a big deal. No matter how bad this particular Michigan team is, there is little historical success for ANY teams in that stadium. Ohio State and Notre Dame are probably the most successful there.
