Michigan won't be 0-4. I think they'll beat Notre Dame on Saturday. They will, however, be stomped by Penn State.

I would say those voters made the right call, seeing Michigan for what it was and not ranking it accordingly.

And Walter, I-AA schools beating a top 25 team, that was a first. But it wasn't just a top-25 team, it was a top-five team. That's a giant leap from New Hamsphire winning at Northwestern, UMaine winning at Mississippi State or Northern Iowa winning at Iowa State. Apples and oranges.

Oz, no doubt about that. I took issue with sportschick's argument that I-AA teams aren't in the same league as I-A teams. That's bullshit. Like the examples you cited, BCS teams go down all the time to I-AA clubs. I don't think App State is better than 60% of I-A schools, but the percentage is a hell of a lot higher than 0. Talent isn't what's keeping ASU from jumping to I-A.

I-AA teams vs. BCS conference I-As, what's the record? I bet it's not "all the time."

A BCS conference team losing to Appy State is a huge fucking embarrassment. The Mountaineers are fast, but they don't have size, and they don't have depth. They have fewer scholarships, and 55 or more of their 63 scholarship guys are I-AA players. No way, no way, no way should a BCS conference team ever lose to them.

When I say all the time, I mean several times a year. It wasn't meant to be taken literally, only that it's not a shock when it happens. And Appalachian State would absolutely be competitive with several bad BCS teams -- Duke, Northwestern, Mississippi State, Stanford, Iowa State, etc.

But all of the above winning at Michigan Stadium would also be a big deal. No matter how bad this particular Michigan team is, there is little historical success for ANY teams in that stadium. Ohio State and Notre Dame are probably the most successful there.

But again Bubbler, that was not my point. Of course it was shocking that ASU won at Michigan. I was contesting sportschick's point that top I-AA teams aren't as good as a bunch of I-A teams. That's simply not true.
