    Pirates trade Gerrit Cole to Astros

    The Pirates traded Gerrit Cole to the Astros for four players including third baseman Colin Moran and pitchers Joe Musgrove and Michael Feliz. Both Musgrove and Feliz have pitched in the majors, but not well. Moran has had a few brief call-ups.

    I don't know that much about those guys, but it sure seems like a low price for Cole, who was two years away from free agency.

    That was a closer who was about to become a free agent. This is a starting pitcher in his prime who was two years away from free agency. He had also avoided arbitration by signing a one-year deal with the Pirates Friday.

    Nothing really. My point stands. The small market team still sold off its ace and a team in one of the top five television markets got him.

    You’re really now going to simply go by tv market?

    What was the Astros payroll the last few years?
