Put your crack pipe down, beyond Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin the rest of the Fat10 is mired in mediocrity. Penn State was a couple of bounces from 6-6, Northwestern lost to a division 1-aa school, Illinois is Illinois (who lost to Rutgers) and Iowa as been sporadic at best all season. Not to mention Sparty and Luther Van Damme U up in Minnehaha.

From the AP sidebar on the post-game reaction:

The final score of 42-39 ended up being lucky for more than just the Buckeyes. The Ohio Lottery will pay out a total of about $2.2 million to lottery players after 4-2-3-9 were chosen as the Pick 4 numbers in a drawing shortly after the game ended.

Rutgers can't even go into Cincy without getting smoked like ready rock. Teams 5-11 in the Big Ten might be mediocre, but that's leaps and bounds better than Rutgers. The Knights beat Illinois, sure, and good for them. But mighty Penn State has never really been the same powerhouse since joining the Big Ten. Good at times, sure, but just middle of the road. Rutgers would be the perpetual Illinois/Minnesota/Michigan State.

Partial outing...I cover the Big Ten. Yes, the bottom part of the league was down. But teams like Northwestern, Indiana and Illinois are young as hell. They won't be that way for long. And if MSU ever gets a real coach, look out. The talent they can get is impressive.

Okay Chuck and all you rematch buffoons:

Ohio State beat Michigan at home by three points.

If there is a rematch and Michigan beats Ohio State by three points at a neutral site, who should be the national champion?

That's a problem, but it's not a reason to keep the best two teams in the country from meeting in the championship game.

Yes, Michigan will have already lost to Ohio State. But what if Notre Dame beats USC? No way does Notre Dame deserve to be in the title game over a 1-loss Michigan team that kicked it's ass.
