We're not talking about the Pac 10 title over here. We're talking about the national championship. Big difference.

Hope you didn't bet the ranch on it.

The Pac-10 title is determined in the regular season, just like the Big Ten. Songbird's point is valid.

Junkie, I don't understand why you continue to think this OSU offense is the best EVER?!?! I know, I know they destroyed the vaunted Michigan D. Yea, the defense that's so good it gave up 26 points to offensive powerhouse Ball State. Oh, and let's take three drives from this game that would have ended up much differently if the Michigan defense is as good and disciplined as it had been touted to be.
    1. On the Wells touchdown, he should have been tackled in the backfield for a two yard loss, instead the Michigan player misses what should have been a sure tackle.
    2. In the second half OSU was fairly deep in their own zone and Robiskie catches what should have been a 10-15 yard catch, instead the Michigan DB misses the tackle and it turns into about about 35 yard gain.
For these two: great defenses don't miss sure tackles, and especially not 2 huge ones (and those are just the two that turned into huge plays, there were definitely others)
    3. The late hit on Smith. A great defense has disciplined player that know to stop or at least slow up so as not to incur the penalty in that situation. Sorry, but what I saw was a good (the usual for Michigan) defense that was touted wayy too much based on their effort against Notre Dame.

Forget about what I said. I didn't fully understand Songbird's point.

P.S. And Songbird, you know you'd want that rematch.

I just want to clarify. I'm not saying that the OSU offense isn't very, very good, it definitely is. I'm just saying that it's not the best ever.

Oh, and you also said this is the best game college football game you've ever seen. I would watch three games, just from last year, again on ESPN Classic over this one any day: USC-Texas, USC-ND and Penn State-Michigan.

No, if UCLA beat USC I'd want to go toilet paper Matt Foley's house!

Anyhoo, Sade sang it best: "It's never as good as the first time." ... I exert so much mental joojoo for the UCLA and Notre Dame games that I wouldn't be able to reach the same fevered pitch for a rematch.

That's easy. One was Big East and the other was Fat10. One was played in front of 100,000 people so it had to be better than the one played in front of 45,000. After all, majority rules, right?

I think people should get used to the idea of a rematch. Enough poll voters are going to keep Michigan No. 2, and then the computer will come into play.

Michigan's only loss will be to the No. 1 team. No one else will have that working for them.

Only Notre Dame could change things now, and that would take a solid romp over USC. But once that happens, Michigan's stock will rise because it defeated ND soundly.

Jan. 8: OSU-Michigan -- your national title game.

Except a solid romp the other way would boost USC's numbers and deflate Michigan's via ND. I can see USC winning that game a lot easier than I can ND.

Not even a solid romp, Dye, just a win.

As much as I loathe Notre Dame, I'd rather see Notre Dame (if it beats USC) against The Ohio State. I think most of America would love to see it, too. An OSU-Michigan rematch would galvanize the bread basket of America, but the love/hate Notre Dame elicits makes for fantastic TV.
