The game should involve the two most deserving teams. Not the two teams that would be expected to produce an instant classic.

    Why?

Why should we "get used to it"?

Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler would not want it that way. Shouldn't we respect the dead?

Those late coaches held the final rivalry game sacred. Bo did so to the point that he didn't care about losing Rose Bowls and national titles.

To this day, the entire Big Ten schedule is designed with the expectation that UM and OSU can decide their championship on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

A rematch in the title game is an insult to the memory of Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes.

Of course, today's 81 point shootout was also an insult to their memory.

History and tradition dictate that Michigan should go to the Rose Bowl.

    ...And lose.

You also pooh-poo the idea of Notre Dame given a nod because of "who beat whom. Consider this: ND beats USC soundly, USC then beats UM soundly in the Rose Bowl. Your "who beat whom" now backfires. Of course, if SC beats ND, you get to hang on to your prized belief.

In the same isle on this floor, we have USC pounding Arkansas worse than the UM v. ND matchup. What reasonable thinking person would think that ARK gets the nod over USC, using your flawed logic? Staying on topic with USC, they certainly have played the toughest OOC schedule of any of the top 10 teams - why are they not more thoroughly entrenched in the discussion of one loss teams? Answer: Disneyfication of sports, thanks to the Bobbleheads at ESPN.

Yes, USC kilt Arkansas but UM only lost to the number 1 team in the country by 3 points.
Yeah, Schembechler and Hayes wouldn't want a rematch. But you have to play the two best teams in the country. period. If SC loses to ND, than you have to put UM at numero dos.

    1) Kilt?
    2) Schembechler and Hayes aren't around and don't run the BCS. It's a different era. If you think Bo wouldn't take a second bite at Ohio State for a national title, telling them "Naw, Michigan doesn't deserve it. Let another team go," you're nuts.

My mistake on Big East tie-breaker...the BCS ranking is used only if there is a 3-way tie, which now cannnot happen.
Therefore, West Virgnia cannot get the Big East BCS bid.

If WVa beats Rutgers, it finishes tied with Louisville, but Louisville gets the BCS bid by virtue of its win over WVa, regardless of BCS ranking.
If Rutgers beats WVa, it finishes tied with Louisville, and Rutgers gets the BCS bid based on its win over Louisville, again regardless of BCS ranking.

Can't remember if I posted this here, on another thread, or not at all (and I'm too groggy to look), but on the teleconference Wednesday, Bo Schembechler said he didn't think the loser of the game would get a rematch, nor did he think the winner would want one.

He also said he didn't think there should be a rematch.

But it dosn't matter. The National Championship should have the two best teams in the country.

Were there really THAT many losers (I guess they're winners now) who went into the beverage store to play those numbers in the 30 minutes between the end of the game and the drawing?

No. Am sure there were many losers in Ohio who picked it before the game ended.
