OK, gamers: XBox360 or PS3

Question:

I'm thinking of getting an XBox or Christmas, but can you play regular games on the Arcade version or just the ones they give you?

 

Do you really think Microsoft would expect someone to spend almost $300 just to play their arcade games, for which they charge extra?

 

Honestly, Doc, I'm about as naive as it gets when it comes to the next-gen consoles.

 

I basically use mine for DVDs and Madden, but I vote PS3. You can buy one for less than $300 on ebay (a 20 gig model) because they started making only the higher hard drive ones. I was skeptical of the blu-ray tech, but watching Talladega Nights on it was amazing (despite the quality of said movie).

 

Does the PS3 play both PS1 and 2 games?

 

anyone have an idea what would be best for pre-teen kids?

 

A book?

 

How expensive are 360 games? I know PS3 games are pretty high.

 

59.99 for new ones, some down to 29.99 already.

Just got the 360 this week. How I've slept even close to six hours a night is beyond me.
