What if every single word is the God's honest truth? Is it still unprofessional then?

I heard that Mrs. Carlson might be on Good Morning America on Tuesday. Heard that The Oklahoman is tryng to make this as big as possible, which would definitely help the paper. Carlson will have a front page story on the situation on Tuesday. Heard this info second hand so take what you will from it.

It's not just the coach. ESPN, which likes to remind us all all the time that they're REAL JOURNALISTS, had "newspaper article" on the graphic under the tirade every time I saw it today.

    It's. A. Column.

    Dumbfucks.

  4. Why are you assuming that the column is wrong?

This is very much an us-against-them scenario. The day I take the word of a FOOTBALL COACH (the most dishonest profession in the world) against a newspaper reporter is the day I call it quits.

Yeah, it's still unprofessional. Even if she was 100 percent correct in everything she spewed, that doesn't justify writing a column like this one --- a bad column at that. How in the world can a sports reporter, much less a female one that's never played a down of even flag football, question a college football player's ability to play with pain? Basically question his character, his toughness and heart? Actually she didn't just question it, she insinuated he didn't have any. But not with any named sources mind you, but heresay and rumors and rumblings. Good Lord. It was a preposterous column that deserved a heated reaction.
It might not have deserved a 5-minute tirade and a coach walking out of a post game press conference, but it deserved something.
And while I thought it was a bit personal when he openly acknowledged that she 'must not have any children,' it was in fact the God's honest truth, so I guess he had a right to say it.

  6. All I can say is that I sincerely hope you're not in our business. If so, you're truly an embarrassment.

  7. True, but you don't sacrifice principles for access.

yikes, Kenny Mayne just tried to make a I-AA joke and said that Troy and Sam Houston State are both in I-AA.

Uhh, Kenny? Troy won the Sun Belt last year.

If this outburst had come immediately after a tough loss, I'd understand it. In the throes of disappointment, you go nuts over something that has been bothering you. OK. We've all been there. But after a 49-45 win? It's counterproductive. That's when you want to beat your chest, talk about your development as a program and explain to recruits why today's win is an undeniable sign of future glory.
So why did he do it? I suspect it has something to do with a fear that his choice at QB had alienated a decent chunk of the roster. This way, he can play one guy, vigorously and publicly defend the other and believe he can win over the whole team by playing both sides of the fence.

Glad I'm not the only one who caught that. I did a double take, but then remembered Troy made the transition a few years ago.
Good to know that as someone (IJAG, I think) pointed out ESPN still has "newspaper article" in the graphic, which is the one that I assume is being used on ESPNews and the other shows.

If you know about his stint on "The Bachelor," you know how well Palmer treats women. Let's give HIM a one-way plane ticket to Jabroniville.

I tried pass that along to the asst. sports editor at the paper, who wrote a "Gundy is right" column. She deleted my comment about journalists not cheering for a team from her blog. That paper needs a good swift kick in its pro-OSU ass.
