At least you're wearing your bias on your sleeve. By the way, I think there's still a little Gundy-spooge on your chin. Might want to wipe that off before it gets crusty.

"All I can say is that I sincerely hope you're not in our business. If so, you're truly an embarrassment."

Why is it that someone who thinks the column was a piece of S to begin with is an embarrassment?
I hate to point it out to you, but sometimes columnists do write crap and this column, in my opinion, was such a column. Unnamed sources, things heard on the sly and rumors killed the solid parts of the column, like the quotes from the player saying he gets nervous. That stuff was damning, but you tend to overlook that because Carlson went with a lot of hints and innuendo about the kid.
I'm not going to scream at Carlson for my problems with her column like Gundy did, but I'm not an embarrassment to this business because I can see things in the column that pissed off Gundy in the first place.

People like chilidog are why this business sucks giant donkey balls sometimes.

PS: I played flag football (powder puff). Does that mean Chilidog would give be permission to write this column? Dumbass.

I'd say he's an embarrassment for being a sexist idiot, but that's just me, BeeYouDee.

I didn't particularly like the column, but Gundy's reaction to it was ridiculous, and people bashing her for being a female and therefore unable to understand football are right there with Gundy in my book.

I doubt that chilidog's a journalist...gender bias aside, the "you never played the game" bit doesn't sound like something a journalist would say.

Yeah, Im in this business. Sorry to embarrass you. But that column sucked. Period. It was reprehensible. It had no legitmiate facts, she did not talk to one single person, she used 'rumors and rumblings' as sources. She basically called the kid soft, which she absolutely no right to do, and she poked fun at him for being a mama's boy.

There are plenty of instances in our profession where a journalist is treated unfairly. This isn't one of them. She villified and ridiculed a college athlete in a daily newspaper for an entire state to read, but she should expect to be treated with respect and professionalism by said athlete's head coach?

Sorry to offend so many folks. Geez. My belief is that NO SPORTSWRITER should EVER QUESTION, in print, a college athlete's ability to play with pain. How could they? Where in the world would any of us get off questioning someone's toughness from the confines of our air conditioned press box? And I know for a fact, because of her gender, that Jenni Carlson has never had a football-related injury, so she has no way of knowing what kind of pain a quarterback can tolerate. If that makes me sexist, so be it. It's also the truth.

Yes, the only way to experience or understand physical pain is to play football. ::)
