Right. I forgot about that. He objected to beating off with a jockstrap on his head and to doing sexual acts to HS / OK State football players, but never objected when you said he blogged from home.

I must admit that the sexual stuff might have gotten under his skin more. Perhaps he missed my snark about his being in the business. . .

I didn’t like the column at all. I don’t think all of those connections fit and there was too much rumor. If she was REALLY sure her facts were right she would have presented them as such instead of mentioning they were all rumors. If she had left the rumor stuff out and just went him laughing on camera that might have worked. The quote about the nervousnes stretched, too. It really seemed to me like she had a bone to pick with the QB and/or Gundy. This type of criticsim isn’t usually directed toward a college kid.

The whole thing was a stretch. I don’t think it was releveant. It’s important to point out that this might not have been the first time she pissed Gundy off wtih a BS column. Maybe it was enough for him. Who knows. I obviously don’t condone coaches ripping on media, but if the shoe fits. Well.. This isn’t the worst tirade I have seen. He didnt use any profanity, just yelled a lot. She’s probably heard worse from her bosses.

I would love for some enterprising YouTuber to have Gundy and Dan Hawkins in a debate.

GUNDY: "If your child goes down the street and somebody makes fun of him because he dropped a pass in a pickup game, or says he’s fat, and he comes home crying to his mom, you’d understand. But you haven’t had that."

    HAWKINS: "It's Division I football! It's the Big 12! It ain't intramurals!"

GUNDY: "That article had to have been written by a person that doesn’t have a child and has never had a child that’s had their heart broken and come home upset! And had to deal with the child when he is upset! And kick a person when he’s down!"

HAWKINS: "Go play intramurals, brother … go play intramurals."

Real bad column. Real bad reaction. Sad little episode.

Gundy looks like the world's biggest asshole in that clip they showed on SportsCenter...

This is what I love about this business. A columnist can write a horse---- column (which that was) for the whole world to see, but the coach must respond "through channels."

We can't get all indignant about unprofessional responses when we have people in our business writing unprofessional columns.

Saw that this story made it in Good Morning America as well. I can't believe how big this story has gotten. You know The Oklahoman loves it because a lot more people will be and are logging onto their lousy website to read the reactions. I guess this just goes to show, write a crappy column and hope a coach goes off on you so you can get more "air time." Then you have most writers who do a good job not get recognized for their good work. (Which does not include me.) Sounds like sour grapes, but it's not. It's just that there is much more made of this than I think there should be as far as the columnist goes.
I understand the attention of the coach because he is a nut job.

  9. Shit, imagine if he had tasered her...

I love when coaches pull the "these guys are just kids, damnit!" card, because you know the next week they'll be cursing the same "kid" out under his breath for not completing a pass that most NFL quarterbacks couldn't hit.

You gotta love coaches who think scholarship athletes who have been coddled for most of their lives should be treated like 10-year-olds...

I didn't think much of the column, but it didn't warrant the response it did...

Gundy just looks like a world class douche who is looking to take the attention away from a loss to Troy, even if they did just beat Mike Leach's sparkling defense...

Nice pissing match, folks. As usual. Let me direct discussion back to the column...

How many of you, under any circumstances, would write a column - or anything fit for print - that includes the words "back stories told on the sly?" Seriously. I want some hands.

Reid doesn't start at quarterback anymore because he doesn't eat his own chicken?

Don't you guys understand that shit like this fucks with your credibility?

Overreaction by the coach, and a hilarious one at that. Weak column (saying a player's injury "appeared minor" without at least getting some kind of a quote about how minor it really was is pretty shitty, if you ask me). Can't believe this thread got to 14 pages.
