Oklahoma State coach Gundy blasts Oklahoman columnist

I've read the column five times now, and I still think it was a good column. If there are parts that are vague or could have used better sourcing, it's partly the fault of Gundy for not being more forthcoming about why the second coming of Vince Young was benched for reasons unrelated to injuries. If coaches don't like speculation of this kind, they should be a bit more up front -- not that I'm holding my breath for that. But they love having it both ways: refuse to explain why they benched someone or called the play they did, then scream when a columnist or writer is forced to use other means to explain what the coach won't. All, I might add, in an effort to serve the reader, who in this case, would probably like to know why this kid was benched.

The link about the mother's reaction was posted about three pages ago.
And people need to get this through their heads, especially Momma Reid: there was nothing in the slightest in that column that was libelous. None. Nada.

Awww, mommy is gonna sue to protect her son's honor?

If her son were a real man, HE would file the lawsuit, not the mom.

Mammy Reid just made the point Carlson was trying to make the entire time -- that her son is a wimp.

What, do you think this story is in any way libelous?

    It is not.

I bet The Oklahoman has gotten a lot of heat for milking it as much as they have. They know newspapers shouldn't be the story. They have become the story and it has looked bad on them.

If you read the column four times, then you're a moron to make such a post. In the article, Carlson writes: "Even though Mike Gundy said last week that Robinson got the nod because he had the better week of practice, insiders say that the coaches decided to bench Reid early in the week." GUNDY DID TELL HER WHY THE CHANGE WAS MADE. How can you say he didn't. Carlson chose to believe "insiders" instead of what the coach said, on the record.

How can you make a claim that Gundy didn't give a reason? He gave a reason. Carlson chose not to believe it.
