That color-coding gimmick reveals little beyond the coder's own subjectivity. As someone else noted, there's plenty of overlap where others would paint red this guy's black/green areas. And what's painted black is highly speculative itself--doggone it he's pretty sure she really did have solid inside sources for that info, despite the fact that she only attributed it to "rumors, rumblings, etc." in the actual piece. And what gets green as "fair" speculation likewise depends largely upon on the personal opinion of the guy with the crayons.

Come on, Tulsa World. That required a bylined story? A Houston TV station gets its worthless little piece of the pie five days after the fact (news flash! A mother doesn't like her son being portrayed as a wuss!), and you write a day-after regurgitation of that?

    Stop the madness, indeed.

  5. "According to a source in the OSU program, Rajika Reid did attend the game at Troy."

You're right. I read the word "didn't" in that sentence.

nobody is bagging on you, dog. at least i hope you didn't read that into my last post.

  7. Nah, but I did want to clear up the confusion. I just read the sentence wrong.
If his mom hadn't been there, it would severely undermine Carlson's claims to have the facts right.

Let's see ... Reid is among the most high-profile recruits Ok. St. has signed in recent years. Has shown so much talent that people were calling him another Vince Young. And he's benched for one week of poor practices? That's it?
That's can't be the only reason, as Ms. Carlson was trying to find out.

And by the way, why the insults for posting my opinion, especially about a sports-related issue. Save your sophomoric personal insults for the politics board, where Fenian and JR rant and rule.

Christ, not that "they never played the game," about the media.
Football is a pretty simple game. Coaches try to make it as complicated as possible to cover their asses and create the illusion, as Jim Mora so eloquently put it, that "we won't know and we can't know."
Guess what coaches ... we do know, and so do most of your knowledgable fans who watch and attend games. And that scares the crap out of you.
