Really, what? How many major tournaments did Kournikova win?

Favors ranks far higher in the history of her sport than Kournikova does. Maybe she came up short in all three of her Olympics, but she sure won everything else, and was once the best female miler in the world. Kournikova was never even remotely close to being the best in her sport.

 

Underline that. Suzy Favor Hamilton was MUCH more of a factor in her sport than Anna Kournikova ever was in hers.

 

She also never sold herself for $600 plus a tip.

 

Which only makes this a big story.

 

With her now admitting that she intentionally fell in the Sydney 1500 Final, it bears mentioning that she did not just fake the fall, at the end of the race she collapsed in a heap, acted barely coherent and as if she could barely lift herself, had to be carted off in a wheelchair as she slumped over edge as if unable to lift her head. Rarely ever has an olympian finished a race in more heartwrenchingly dramatic fashion. Except that it was apparently all faked because she simply couldn't face that she'd been fairly beaten in race she was expected to win.

So appears the crazy levels were already pretty high even back in her heyday.

 

She's the most decorated female track athlete in NCAA history. She was a very big deal.

I will now step aside for the "most decorated" jokes.

 

I have to think this is a story, regardless of the Olympic tag.

Affluent, wife and mother, high priced hooker. Those variables themselves would get this in the news.

This wasn't some trailer park mama offering up Andrew Jackson blowjobs behind the Citgo station.
