    Thanks.

Maybe the Slovaks should take a few, but not all, cues from Team Norway.

That as close to a home Olympics as a Swede ever gets. Lots of Swedish fans on hand, IIRC. Beat Canada in a shootout in the gold medal game.

If Finland scores 8 on Austria's terrible defense, Canada should get at least 10.

    Really? I didn't know that.

Maybe you didn't know, but, surprisingly Sweden has never hosted a Winter Olympics. Been runnerup a few times. Stockholm withdrew its bid to host in 2022, so now I'm rooting for either Oslo or Krakow, Poland.

Lillehammer is as close to a home Olympics as the Swedes have ever had.

You know, it's funny. Countries like Russia, Canada, China and the United States are so huge that a "home" Olympics can be thousands of miles from an athlete's hometown. But most countries are far, far smaller, both in terms of geography and population. So was Vancouver really a "home" Olympics for athletes from Quebec? Or Salt Lake for athletes from New York?

Sochi is about 900 miles south of Moscow.

Sweden's Henrik Zetterberg to miss the rest of the tournament with a back injury. Damn.

Wish the NHL would adopt the IIHF format of three points for a regulation win, two points for an OT or shootout win.

Of course I knew it. What context did you think I was referring to in regard to "Forsberg's goal was in Norway?" Playing for the Nashville Predators?

You'll have to PRECISELY connect the dots for me because Sid's goal was an OT gold-medal winner on his country's ice, Forsberg's goal, obviously, won gold for Sweden in Norway and "Mr. Eruption in Italian" fired home a huge goal in a huge game of the third period of a tournament semifinal on his home ice.

I thought your original question was extremely premature, but to each his own. But you cannot even admit to slip up of fact. If I'm your editor, I'm checking your facts (and datelines) closely.

As to the rest of your post above, interesting thoughts. I grant you that.

Seems like the big ice did not have a negative affect on The USA yesterday.

I respect Zdeno Chara's ability immensely; he's one of those guys you hate if he's the opponent but love if he's yours. However, I will admit to having enjoyed watching him, in particular, play "chase the Americans around" and scramble in front of his own net.

Nice hit on David Backes, though. It's not easy to power clean that dude.
