Doughty had both Canadian goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Finland. So.....

    (5) Russia vs. (12) Norway, winner faces (4) Finland

    (6) Switzerland vs. (11) Latvia, winner faces (3) Canada

    (7) Czech Rep. vs. (10) Slovakia, winner faces (2) United States

    ( 8 ) Austria vs. (9) Slovenia, winner faces (1) Sweden

With all of the talk about Canada's forwards, they have 6 of their 11 goals from defencemen. Crosby, Toews, Tavares and Perry don't have a single point in the first three games.

Went into CAN-FIN thinking the worst-case scenario was a Canada OT/SO win. Any decision in regulation would likely have produced a US-SWE semifinal, right? Because the regulation winner would have been the 1 seed, kicking SWE to 2 and USA to 3.

Not necessarily. It's written into the tournament that if Canada and the US both make the semis, they will play each other.

I believe you are correct, because Canada and Finland both started the day with better goal differentials than Sweden. But Sweden was the only team to get all nine points in the prelims.

So is the dream final Russia vs. Canada? (I can only remember one Russia-Canada Olympic final, it was 1992 as the Unified Team that beat Eric Lindros-lead Canada in the gold medal game.)

Tavares is the only one without a point.

Crosby had an assist against Finland and one against Austria. Toews had an assist against Austria. Perry had an assist against Austria.
