No Varlamov was the starter, pulled just after the Finns made it 3-1.

Watched the third period, and I knew the Russians were cooked when they pissed away their only power play in the period. I think Milbury just put it succinctly. Far from feeling the pressure, they didn't feel enough pressure. Never saw any urgency from Russia in the third period.

Meanwhile, the Finns have proven to be a true darkhorse. Rask is a true equalizer, and he makes them dangerous.

And now the Russkies know what it feels like to be a Washington Capitals fan.

I'm sure they'll lose now that I say it, but I did pick the Finns in that little poll at the top. Just had a feeling. What they're doing without maybe their top 3-4 centers is amazing. Rask is absolutely the equalizer.

Love seeing Selanne still playing, still my favorite (ex) Winnipeg Jet.

After the disallowed goal against the US the Russians were a different and not very good team. It's as if they took that as a sign of "yep, not us again."

They were horribly run. Their coach had to be told by Malkin to pull their goalie.

Some people should be headed to the goulags.

Great start to this U.S. game. High pace, virtually no whistles.

Old guy Petr Nedved playing for the Czechs, along with other oldies Jaromir Jagr and Patrick Elias. I don't know if the Czechs have anyone under the age of 35 on their roster.

Their coach played on the 80 USSR team. Much like Viktor Tikhonov, pulling the goalie must not be something he's used to doing.
