I agree that the slash was a weak call, but I think it's pretty obvious they were dying to make a call against the US after the cross-checking penalty on Canada, which was (a) indisputably a penalty but (b) not something that took away a scoring chance. I think if anything they were too aware of the situation, and trying too hard not to decide the game, which is what they ended up doing anyway.

Officiating has been pretty awful throughout the men's and women's tournaments, IMO. Still don't think it had anything to do with the outcome of the women's final.

You mean the breakaway the led to the dive?

Please, her skate was clipped. There is no ref in the world that wouldn't have called that. If she took two more strides instead of trying to get on her right side she would have easily caught her.

Amazing that an elite-level athlete like Wickenheiser has such a hard time staying on her skates when somebody may or may not have grazed her.

Clipped her skate is not up for debate, might have gone down easy but that call is being made by any ref and should have been a penalty shot.

Whine and cry all you want but it wasn't the refs that made them choke with 3 minutes left in the third. The slash was a terrible call but maybe they should have hit the empty net after the linesmen took the Canadian off the puck and then Canadian fans would be the ones whining about the linesman's stupidity.

Watching Canadians get all pissy defending their team is fun.

The slash call is the sports gods offerring justice for the crap call on the Canadian goalie during the Soccer World Cup that cost Canada that game.

    Both were crap calls.

Funny, the only whiny little bitch around here is you. Learn to be a gracious winner.

Really, show me where I whined you fucking idiot. I said the refs were out of their league and the slash was a ridiculous call.
