    If you take U.S. 26 from Seaside, you will still be north of Cannon Beach and Tillamook.
    I'd pass on Seaside. I'd pass on Tillamook if it weren't for the ice cream.
    Maybe because I've used U.S. 26 often, but I'd take Oregon 6 (the Wilson River Highway) from the coast east toward Portland.
    Walking/hiking in Portland is worthwhile, too - Forest Park, Washington Park.

    You can get all the saltwater taffy you’d ever want in Seaside. Parking can be a bitch, though.
