Don't we already have the United States and Puerto Rico?

Heck, the U.S. and China should team up. Talk about domination.

I've watched a lot of soccer over the past decade -- probably not as much as a few people on this board, but I'd say that I'm at least in the top 10. In all of the countless games that I've watched, I've never seen that call. If you want to book the keeper for time wasting at the next dead ball, fine. You've now formally cautioned her and let her know that if she does it again, she'll be thrown out. But that was an unprecedented decision which obviously changed the game.

Well, that's just the point that was made, though. You *can't* book her at the next dead ball for time wasting. There's no provision for that in the rules. The ball's live. The only time you can keep playing and return to book a player at the next whistle is when there's an advantage being played to the offended team.

In this situation, there's no such advantage. You have to stop play to issue the yellow card. And a drop ball isn't the appropriate way to handle that.

It would be the same if a player randomly mouthed off to the ref in the middle of play. Assuming no advantage to the other team, he would have to stop play, issue a yellow card and award an indirect free kick the other way.

Mark doesn't want any of those damn furriners being able to go to school in the U.S. They're taking up the spots that he was not smart enough to get.

I saw on Twitter so consider the source but the last time that call was made on a keeper in the EPL was 2002.

    Terrible call.

I'm fairly certain that I've seen that called before at the next whistle. Perhaps it was outside the letter of the rules, but i've seen it done

I guess the point is to what degree should an official influence the outcome of a game? Especially on a non-essential call.

The only time I've seen anyone booked for time wasting is during free kicks, goal kicks, throw-ins and substitutions.

There are already about three dozen opinion pieces about this, but I found Soccer America's unique.

I am fairly certain I have seen it as well. There is a reason that the call is never made and for it to be made in a game like that is simply wrong. Be careful what you wish for if you really want all games called to the letter of the rulebook.

When you are warned already and you continue to do it, you've earned the penalty.
