Men's kayak: Canada's Adam Van Koeverden gets silver in the 1000 meters, losing to the Norweigan after leading for most of the race. Bummer.

Anyone else see that French basketball player wind up and sucker punch the Spanish player in the nuts? Ouch.

Some seriously great photos (AP, Reuters) on the NBCOlympics.com website. I am as impressed by their work as I am the athletes.

I'm tired of NBC acting treating Middle Eastern nations sending women to the Olympics as a big deal. It would be a big deal if they could actually compete.

The Saudi 800m runner finished DFL. She was 30 seconds slower that the next to last finisher. Her 2:44 was the slowest time of all the heats.

Yeah, Inky, I hear ya. It is a historically significant moment for a culture that is obviously much different than what we experience in the western world.

As for them actually being able to compete, I just wonder what their training conditions and coaching (if any) are like.

The Dutch survive in a shootout and will play either Argentina or Great Britain in the field hockey final.

Batum' answer to why he punched Navarro in the balls. "I wanted to give him a real reason to flop"

Goalies making save after save in the Denmark-Sweden handball match. Those guys are definitely not sitting ducks in there.

My old pal Jason Richardson blasts through his 110 hurdles heat -- 13.13 while jogging across the line. Looked fabulous.

And Merritt follows by blasting a 12.94 in his heat.
