I've seen two of the three quarterfinals today. France beat Spain with a goal at the horn in the previous game. Didn't see the first game this morning but apparently it went into overtime. This sport is nuts.

Handball is the most entertaining sport in the Games (IMHO).

And the Danish coach sounds more like the Swedish Chef than the Swedish coach.

yeah, handball is great. And, like water polo or beach volleyball, doesn't take all afternoon to play a game.

Every four years people watch handball and talk about how great it is. It's shame nobody's found a way to promote it in the U.S.

US men's water polo team trails Croatia 4-0 in second period. US won its first three games, then lost the next two decisively. Figured they might have a tough go today.

That's a great point. There are so many interesting sports out there. Yet when I talk to journalists and other sports fans, it seems all anyone wants to talk about is football, basketball, baseball, car racing and (occasionally) golf.

I'd show you some of the other pictures from Google, but they're NSFW.

In small pockets. Sort of like hockey or softball.

Interesting..... if you are sitting around a newsroom full of sports people or a sports bar, seems like the conversation is always about one of the aformentioned sports. Maybe that's because it's what we get fed in mainstream media. But maybe that's OUR fault as a group of journalists.

Even as a college SID, I loved finding good stories about athletes outside of football and basketball. But the papers and TV never seemed interested in anything but those two.

If I ever go back to journalism, I'd rather cover Olympic sports. Could care less if I ever cover another football or baseball game again. But, sadly, seems like that's the culture.

Baring a miracle comeback by the US men, the water polo final four will consist of Serbia, Italy, Montenegro and Croatia.
